question about PCV valve...
What do our PCV valves look like? I bought one from wal-mart, a Fram one, and when i took the one off of the car, they are not even close to the same. The one i took of the car was not even a valve, it was just a 90 degree plastic elbow. The part number of the one i got is FV296. Is this the right one?

The PCV valve is in the DRIVER's side of the intake manifold, middle. The line on the passenger side SUPPLIES filtered, MAF measured air to the valve cover so that it can be pulled out through the PCV system.

Here's a bit of a heads up on the Fram PCV filter. I installed one last week. It didn't seem to fit as snugly in the rubber grommet as the OE piece. I think I was actually getting a little bit of a vacuum leak around the FRAM, my idle shot up to about 2000 rpm. I went back and wiggled the PCV filter hose, the leak subsided dramatically. I think I'm going to pick up an AC Delco.

In theory, the line from the TB supplies the air to the valve cover, and thats the air that the PCV system pulls through the crankcase and lifter valley to remove the contaminants that build up in there. In the event of excessive crankcase pressure, the pressure vents backwards from the valve cover to the TB, and is pulled into the intale manifold to be burned. Pull the hose off that goes between the TB and the valve cover. Look for oil in there. Then pull the top cover plate off the TB.... that's where the oil mist ends up when you have excessive crankcase pressure. After that area get filled up, the oil gets into the front of the TB, and starts to carbon up the TB and the intake manifold.
Worth looking to see if you have signs of excessive blowby.
