question about new LCA's

I just put some new LCA's on my Z and now everytime I hit the slightest bumps they make a tap sound. I put a little grease on each one before installing them. What is the cause of this and will it stop after awhile? Thanks...

Do they have poly bushings? or are they spherical ends? The spherical will always make that slight ticking noise, if it is the poly bushings, make sure the bushings are fine and that there is no metal to metal contact between the lca and mounting area.

They do have poly bushings. Now, that I look at it better, I don't think that I was supposed to grease them up. It looks as though there is surfaces on the end that are supposed to be flush with the chassis and that there is a swiveling mechanism in the center. It seems to be getting better as I drive it though. I think all the grease needs to be removed from them, but I'm not sure. Thanks for the help

They SHOULD be greased, using the correct grease for polyurethane. The ES poly's come with little tubs of white, water-resistant grease, and the best thing you can do is slather it all over the bushings.

Check the bolts and make sure they are properly torqued.

I loaded mine up w/grease...no problems. Did you torque down the LCA bolts when the suspension was loaded or while the rear was hanging?

I did it while it was hanging, should I tq them while loaded? Also, I didn' t think that there was a tq spec on them or that it was that necessary. Does anyone know the tq spec?

Pretty sure it's around 80 ft-lbs.

There's your problem right there....go loosen the bolts, hand tighten them, jack up the rear (or you can just do it on the ground) and torque them down with the suspension loaded. Mine did the same thing until I did this and I'm 99.99% positive it's going to work for you.
