Yes, the front (flat) ones that you must use.

No, GM does not sell extensions. Try Thunder Racing or places like that.

i extended the wires myself when i put on hooker longtubes and never had a problem with it. However, for the time and effort i put into extending the harness, i could've just gone to http://www.thunderracing.com/catalog...id=117&pcid=54 and ordered an extension for cheap.

I knew there would be responses like above. My only purpose was to inform. You may/may not have problems. Then again, you might alter the proficiency of the sensor and not even realize it. Everyone is free to do what they like, but now you know some more facts.

Shoebox, once again you are correct...

But the alteration I did, to me had no effect...

Similar to the MAF descreening argument that LT1 tech is famous for

I'm going to have to do some research on that 02 wire thing, I'm interested into how that works, and why they do it.. and to see if there really is any effects that come from altering the wiring.

Oh, 1 more thing Shoebox... which wires are you talking about, the ones on the sensor itself, or the ones in the vehicle Harness???

If you are talking about the ones on the sensor then I can agree, if you are talking about the ones in the vehicle, I can't understand how that "Airpath" could be maintained through that connector. I've looked at the connector, and can not see the special connector that would be required if the wires in the car harness did this "airflow" through the connector.

If you take apart the car's harness, it's just crimp fittings inside that connector, if there was an airpath inside that harness it was ruined when they crimped the pin/socket onto the wire before they inserted it into the connector housing.

Well... Shoebox you are correct, but incorrect as well...

That wire that contains the air vent is the wires comming from the 02 sensor, if you extend those wires you can have the issues like you stated.

But... If you extend the harness in the car (Like I have done) there is no airpath in those wires, such it will not effect the operation of the 02 sensor.

If you read my first two posts in this thread, I indicated that it was the wiring from the sensor to it's plug. I also said that you could do whatever you wanted to the vehicle's harness.

I extended the wires myself with some wire, solder and heat shrink tubing, on the sensor side. i appear to be having no problems and have even monitored it some with A-tap, but I think eventually I'll buy some new O2s and some extensions. I used the part number shoebox posted and they are much cheaper than I thought they would be.

What we have here is a failure to communicate

I stated in my first post that I extended the harness in the car... after my second post is where you added

Then again, you might alter the proficiency of the sensor and not even realize it. Everyone is free to do what they like, but now you know some more facts
This is what caused my responce...

So.. As a conclusion to the entire extend Vs Pre-made:

1. Buy the extensions...

2. Extend the vehicles harness...

3. do NOT extend the o2 sensor harness... (It can cause issues)

I think that about sums it up...

Sorry, the "you" I used there was not directed at you. It was meant to be a collective "you" (everyone).
