How many miles did you guys have on your cars when you put the cam in? How long can a set of factory cam bearings last?

We are installing my cam as we speak and my buddy noticed that the cam bearings had a little wear on them but nothing serious. He also said that you have to pull the motor to change them. SCREW THAT! So........... Im just curious what the mileage was on some of your cars when you put the cam in and how is everything holding up!

 

miles at the time of install. The cam bearings should last a long time if proper lubrication is present.

If they have some wear on them, well, ......they should last " a while"....depending on wear at time of install.

I have had my cam in for a few months and I absolutely love it.

I think it will be ok. He said they werent bad so hopefully they will last until I rebuild the motor. She only has about 87k on here now so everything should be ok for up to 150k Im hoping.

 

126k when I did my heads and cam And NO you don't have to pull the motor. Just take out the radiator, and all that you can in front of the motor. Then rotate the AC condensor out of the way. It's really not that hard.

I wasnt saying you had to pull the motor for the cam install. I meant if for the cam bearings. The cam is already in along with the timing chain, rr's and everything else. We should be done later on this evening putting the stuff back on like the alt, water pump, and all the other parts.
