putting in new converter rear main seal question?

putting in new converter rear main seal question?

doing the converter swap this week at this time should i change the rear seal.its not leaking but just wondering since i will be in the neighborhood?it is pretty easy since the trans will be down right?anything else i should look into while doing the swap,or maybe u guys have done during a converter swap.

Yeah its easy & quick enough that if I were you, Id change it. Be careful not to damage the pan gasket if you take the seal housing off the block.

mohawkmike is not inferring you have to, but there is no need to disturb the rear main housing when replacing the rear main seal. Only if you have a leak at the seal housing to the block would you have to mess with it. I would check the seal housing bolts/nut to be sure they are tight. Sometimes they like to work loose.

its not leaking just thought i would change it since i will be in the neighborhood or should i leave it alone?

At 85k, mine was showing signs of slight leakage-just a little oil on the back of the pan. Consider what you have to do to get to it if it leaks and make a judgement call from there.
