putting in new converter rear main seal question?

Re: putting in new converter rear main seal question?
mohawkmike is not inferring you have to, but there is no need to disturb the rear main housing when replacing the rear main seal. Only if you have a leak at the seal housing to the block would you have to mess with it. I would check the seal housing bolts/nut to be sure they are tight. Sometimes they like to work loose.

At 85k, mine was showing signs of slight leakage-just a little oil on the back of the pan. Consider what you have to do to get to it if it leaks and make a judgement call from there.
