Exhaust flange/hanger...

I was looking at a lot of peoples exhaust setups and I was wondering if there is some sort of hange that is right after the cat? I am doing a single cat conversion with my AS&M's and it seems that most people have some sort of rectangular flange instead of a regular 3 or 2 bolt flange that connects to the S-pipe. Is that for a hanger or just their choice?

My 95 single cat system has a GM exhaust hanger that mounts to the tail of the tranny and supports the exhaust just behind the cat.

Does that mean that I need to go to GM and purchase a special exhaust hanger/flange for connecting my cat to the S-pipe?

Any exhaust shop should be able to fabricate something. You can also try a salvage yard if you don't want to buy a new piece.

Re: Exhaust flange/hanger...

It's actually a regular two flange connector that connects the cat-back to the converter... But theres a rectangular hanger plate that's bolted at the rear of the converter in two seperate spots.

If you have a Haynes repair manual there's a pic on page 4-16.
