Problems with installing Hooker catback

so after installing my hooker catback on my 94Z i see a few problems..first off the "I" pipe hangs down pretty low..2nd,the over the axle pipe just about touches the axle/crossmember (you can feel it at idle)...3rd when using the hanger (thats right they only gave me 1) the muffler touches the heat shield for the tank..4rth..thus the tips do not exit straight or correctly..5th i took it to a muffler shop and they said to take it back b/c it doesnt fit right..6th..im pissed

this happen to anyone else?

Take a band clamp, loop it through the bottom coil, and clamp an old valve spring in between the pipe and the chassis.

Re: Problems with installing Hooker catback

Sounds like you need to get back under there and do some adjustments. I did pry a couple pieces of sheet metal out of the way to make mine clear. Mine was rubbing near the top of the "over the axle" portion though. Once the drivers side hanger is installed correctly, you can control the height of the muffler by raising and lowering the exhaust tip. It kind of pivots on the drivers side hanger portion.

They do fit pretty well, you just need to get everything connected just right. The drivers side hanger is very important. Also, I welded a piece of metal in the passenger side hanger area to raise up that hanger. It helped the I-pipe easily clear the axle.

Re: Problems with installing Hooker catback

maybe they sent you one for the wrong year or something???? i have a 94 6 speed and it took me about 45 minutes (including multiple trips to autozone to buy different clamps) to get the the catback on and working. inever had a problem with it touching anything. best thing to do is to take it all off and start all over again. it's not very time consuming
