Did you follow EXACTLY the link that Rob/Shoebox posted? That's right from the factory manual. Maybe it's easier to understand with pictures:

ok ive done this 3 time by both ways instructed no noise no leaks but still stiff steering ive turned that wheel with wheels off ground bout 100 times ???

Almost sounds like something in the system is blocking flow. It is possible the flow was blocked and the resulting high pressure is what caused your old pump to spray fluid everywhere?

Never experienced that particular problem. The manual indicates:

SYMPTON (sic): Hard steering of lack of assist, especially during parking:

POSSIBLE CAUSES:

Brake applied while turning wheel

Damaged or worn steering gear coupling shaft

Sticky flow control valve

Insufficient pump pressure

Excessive internal pump leakage

Excessive internal steering gear leakage

whatever it was it seemed to have worked itself out no leaks or anything thank you for your help
