possible to hit 10's with a 396 stroker??
possible to hit 10's with a 396 stroker??
Just like the thread reads is it possible to hit high 10's low 11's on just a 396 stroker. Without a supercharger or nitrous. What kind of combos does anybody recommend to do the job?? I'm looking for a really reall aggressive cam
Re: possible to hit 10's with a 396 stroker??
Of course it is possible. It's possible with less displacement than that also. Combo: good heads (AFR 210/220 or fully worked LT4 to keep things simple), fairly large duration camshaft matched to the heads by reputable builder. Decent rotating assembly than can handle the RPM's and then all the accessories (injectors, fuel system, TB, headers, rear end, clutch/torque converter, transmission, driveshaft, suspension, etc). Realistically, you can plan on spending ~$15,000 to get there unless you already have the ancillary things like drivetrain modifications currently. In the end is it worth it to spend the extra to make that kind of power N/A? Not in my opinion (and I've spent it) unless you have a much better reason than bragging rights as motivation for doing it. Your money though.
Do you want an aggressive cam just for the sake of it being aggressive or because you think that is what you need to achieve the goals stated above?

yes..like said above its very possible to get there. Either make a butt load of power or lighten the car up....or a combination of each. It can be done with the right combo.

I would think in an all out motor car that 9's should be no problem if the combination is done right. Shoot, look at Joe O. 9.3's @ 143 all motor in I believe a 388 now.

To hit 10s NA, you would need some badass heads and a FAT cam. I would expect 220+ ports (300+ cfm) plus a solid roller cam in the 250+ range. That would hit 10s easily.
Realistically, I would go with a 383, Lloyd heads, and a solid cam plus some of the bottle. That would be ALOT cheaper and get you to 10s just as easily.

I just got a 'fair' pass with my 383 stroker (93) camaro Z28.
Sixty foot was 1.6? (it spun) with 26 inch tires (too Small), then had to let off the throttle 1/2 down the track as the car started swaying towards the guard rail.
This gave me an 11.5 at 117.5 mph.
With 28" tires and a good launch (1.4 or 1.5) the car should be in the high 10's, no problem
