The last time I did mine (about 20,000 miles ago) I just went to Autozone and picked up some single platinum plugs and a set of wires they had in stock. They seem to work just fine. The gains you will see from aftermarket plugs and wires is minimal. I usually run A/C delco filters.

My 94 Z28 A4 is in the shop getting a new transmission and ignition coil & wire. Should I have them change the plugs & wires also? They are the original plugs & wires and the car is 10 years old but only has 65000 miles.

A popular choice for plugs on the LT1 are NGK TR55's and there only like $2.00 per plug, but if you have alot of extra $$$ Id say go with stock AC Delco's which are about $5.00 per plug, do the math. Wires arent that big of a deal, I actually went with Accel which I believe I got from Advance Auto for like $20.00, but again if you want to spend $$$, go with the Taylor 8mm wires, about $50.00.

Personally, i like the NGK platinum plugs (around $6, i believe). If you drive your car a lot or everyday, i would definately recommend platinum. They just last a lot longer (like 3 times longer than regular plugs).
As for wires, i used MSD 8.5mm. They are a little pricey, but i think worth the money. I've had mine on for about 5 years and never had a problem with mine. I've got about 90,000 miles on wires.

dude, I only had 18,000 miles on my 97 and I put an ohm meter on a few stock plug wires. Now keep in mind, 1000 ohms and higher is pure crap. Stock wires ranged from 780-960ohms. I replaced them with MSD superconductor 8.5mm's but they were a little challenging to get in the factory clips since they are .5 bigger. MSD's ran from 26-34 ohms. Plugs, I still run stock, they are double platinums so since they are claimed to run 100,000miles and cost 11 bucks a piece, I'm not changing them, especially for *** plugs. I try to keep as much US made stuff on it as I possibly can. I'll replace with stock AC products.
