Have you ever had it scanned?

Could be as simple at a torn air inlet bellows between the MAF sensor and the throttle body. Does it seem to misfire before it responds to the throttle?

Then perhaps the bottom edge of the bellows is folded under, and not fully on the throttle body.

It would be allowing air to bypass the MAF, so it might have a minor impact, but not likely enough to cause the engine to take a while to take "a few moments to get up to speed".

Incorrect. Yes, we have a throttle cable.... and YES, we have a TPS The "TPS" is the throttle position sensor. It is on the passenger side of the throttle body. It is used by the PCM to determine throttle position, determine when to put the engine into power enrichment mode, when to respond to rapidly moving throttle, etc.

You appear to confusing the TPS with the throttle position actuator that is used in the cars with "drive by wire" throttle actuation.

You need to get under the hood more often.....
