pcm removal

Hey guys, just a quick question... what tools do i need to remove my pcm? My car is in a storage garage and i have to send my pcm in so i dont want to bring my whole tool box over there. Any help would be great!!!

I think it's just a 10mm socket. You will also need an extension.

Don't forget to disconnect the battery. I fried the fuse in my 95 removing the PCM without disconnecting the battery once.

Yeah, what he said. You might want a screwdriver to pop the 4 clips off the back of it.

Is there anything else to it? I have mine still in my car as well, im just worried that once i unbolt it, its gonna have tons of wires n crap that i dont want to have to deal with.

You can't mess it up (other than not disconnecting the battery, and then it'll just blow a fuse). All the wire are in four large connectors that are color coded to the ECM.

i just did this and i had to bust my plastic holder because the PCM wouldn't come out due to the bracket screws being stripped,i had nothing to get them out with.

which is the PCM??? the small little green thing? how do i get that out? can i open the larger part?

"small little green thing"? The PCM is the entire finned metal box that is encased in the plastic bracket.

No need to open up the box, unless you are trying to change the knock module. Otherwise, leave it alone.

ah yes thanks, i saw that in another thread. one thing is how the hell do i get those color coded clips off??? there is a problem too that the plastic holder broke. how can i replace that?
