I've fired my car up with open headers to fix some things and my neighbors understand that sometimes things need to be done like that. But why would you want your car to sound like a redneck pickup? Loud cars are not fast cars. How many turbo Buick's have you seen running 9's or 10's with very quiet exhaust? The sleeper approach will get you a lot farther than the loud fartpipe approach.

And my neighborhood doesn't have any association or watch groups, just a nice neighborhood with people that like each other and are considerate. Nothing whiney here, just plain old common sense which most young people don't have yet. I give advice to the kids in our club and most of them end up wasting money only to end up doing my suggestion in the end. Now where's my geritol?
Your too old. cry baby. I build em loud and they are VERY fast.

I was on a four wheeler of my buddies last night when the brake fluid leaked out and I hit a tree at 35 head on. Just got out of the hospital last night when I posted the quote you replied to.

I forgot to mention that I don't run code through my neighborhood....ESPECIALLY at 2am and stuff. I thought I did write that on there, but I guess I forgot. I did mean to write it though. That equipment is meant to clear traffic and what traffic is there in those parts? Also, I know the medics AND the firetrucks shut their stuff down when on approach. I'm not an idiot when it comes to this blue light stuff.

Let me put my fire department in to perspective: 2 stations, 9 trucks, and 60 guys....all volunteer. It's not just Bob, Harry, me, and Joe down the street using it as an excuse to come barrelling through town (much less at 2am).

My original comment about the siren was more or less refferring to the noise potential of my car. No one likes exhaust tuning at 2am, but a loud Flowmaster car is a far cry from that.

Dam, glad you're ok. I've heard more horror stories already of guys getting hurt on those quads. I'm not looking to start an argument over what's too loud and what isn't, it's about respect and being considerate of others.

Oh I understand. I was just saying the car has the potential to be extremely loud and that there is a difference between an extraordinarily loud car coming home (like mine or that Mustang) and then just revving the crap out of it to be "cool" (ie...that Mustang Jeff was talking about). One is okay if you are at elast trying, the other is just well....lame and blatantly annoying.

Jeff H, even if you have been proclaimed too old by some of the younger dudes on the board, I strongly hope that whenever i am as "old" as you...I still find peace of mind in fast cars and power!!
