Why don't you just drive at about 1100rpm when you're in the neighborhood?
Cars don't typically move very much at 1100 rpm.

I like musclecars too, but not in the middle of the night when I'm sleeping. A neighbor back behind us just got a late 80's Mustang and it has some obnoxious FLowmaster exhaust. My 96 SS with Pacesetter longtubes, dual 3" cats and SLP 2OTL is actually very quiet. I would get pissed off too if somebody kept coming in late with a loud obnoxious car. Once the weather warms up and we have the windows open at night, this kid behind us better not be coming home too late making noise. There's no reason for a car to be that loud and obnoxious and other people shouldn't have to suffer for it. Do you have dual cats on your car? If not, running around with loud exhaust and no cats is just asking to have your car taken away for breaking the law
WAH WAH WAH!! I just wonder what people think where I live.... Pacesetter Longtubes, ORY, SLP LM, AND....

200 watt siren for fire calls that gets turned on regardless of whether it's 4am or 630pm.... (Remember, most cops run a 100 watt siren, firetrucks run a 200 watt)

You would have a fit prolly and this post just came off whiney. It did make me laugh at 2:15am when I got back from a medic assist...

Re: PaceSetter LTs + Spintech Muffler + 400rwhp = look inside

The problem is the initial startup under the car port. The car port directs the sound at the units behind my car, and i like to idle the car for a little bit atleast before i drive it. Also the paint on the car isnt in good condition anyway so im not all that worried about that. Aside from that i dont really care to aggrivate my neighbors, sometimes its very handy to be on their good side. One day i will own a home, have my own property, my own garage etc etc, if at that point someone tells me my car is too loud ill tell them to go fly a kyte.

Man, I'll never live in a neighborhood with a homeowners association. I enjoy making people cringe in those places. If they're going to be that lame and picky and complain about everything, they need to live in an F-ing condo.

I was helping my buddy install a set of LTs on his car and just had to fire it up with open headers once they finally got in. The neighbors hated us and complained the next day. I dont really get it though because it was only for like 5 mins and it wasnt that late, 1 or 2 am i think

my neighbors haven't complained yet. as matter of fact when i fired mine up for the first time 2 weeks ago with open lt headers, the guy next door was like "dude, take it to the track". my problem is these ****** down the road in a new subdivision. i rode my 4 wheeler thru there and got the cops called on me. needless to say i didn't go down without a fight tho. by the time i cussed out the lady who thought she was "god" and could tell me what to do, the whole neighborhood was out on there front lawn. i even waited for the cops and almost got a $1,000 ticket. when it is forgotten about, i'll be back in the middle of the night with my loud camaro and a box of eggs................i'm still pissed about it. lol.

Well little Johnny, when you grow up and learn to be considerate of your neighbors you won't have as many people hating you. If you drove your car through our neighborhood at 2 am with your setup you would find yourself answering to a cop. And then when they find out your setup is illegal your car will be taken away until you pay to fix it back to legal specs. There's no reason to be an azz with your car. I've fired my car up with open headers to fix some things and my neighbors understand that sometimes things need to be done like that. But why would you want your car to sound like a redneck pickup? Loud cars are not fast cars. How many turbo Buick's have you seen running 9's or 10's with very quiet exhaust? The sleeper approach will get you a lot farther than the loud fartpipe approach.

And my neighborhood doesn't have any association or watch groups, just a nice neighborhood with people that like each other and are considerate. Nothing whiney here, just plain old common sense which most young people don't have yet. I give advice to the kids in our club and most of them end up wasting money only to end up doing my suggestion in the end. Now where's my geritol?

House on an acre lot + lots of trees between the neighbors = win.

My neighbors are generally pretty cool, and many of them have even brought their kids by because I'll let them look at my car/sit in it and play around. I don't start it up past 8 or 9 with open headers, if that situation came up I'd just wait until the next day. Plus my street slopes down ever so slightly, so if I'm coming home in the middle of the night I can put the car in neutral and coast all the way to the garage.

My attitude is the same as Javier's...unless they are paying my mortgage they can shut their damn traps....I really don't care what my neighbors think.
I have MAC ML headers running into a 3.5" OR pipe all the way back to a 2 chamber Flowmaster. It is ALMOST as loud as a Nextel Cup car, no joke.
I drive it daily to the engineering HQ of one of the Big3 120miles round-trip each day.
LOUD PIPES & LEADED FUEL RULES !

I don't think the issue at hand is really whether your neighbors can tell you whether or not to have a loud car. Rather, the issue is having a loud car and disturbing your neighbors at all hours of the night with it.

I'm respectful of others with how I operate the car late at night.

If someone made a habit of blatently making a bunch of noise and racket, disturbing my sleep in the middle of the night and then told me to shut up and deal with it, I'd make it so their car couldn't make any noise at all

God damn blue-lighters...just because you have a blue light permit doesnt mean you have the right to be a complete and total *******...and there really is no reason for you to have a siren at all whatsoever. no volunteer fire call is that freakin important

Missouri law buddy...can't have the light without the siren.
Go to firehouse.com and look for the Edgar Springs, MO incident where a woman killed a guy when she wasn't running proper gear.

And the volunteer departments are just the same as the city's calls...except further out, and without a payroll.

But seriously...it's the law

You don't have to roll code through neighborhoods at 2am. We don't, the medics don't, and neither do the firefighters. When you get into downtown areas or blind intersections, then yeah. You've got to have a little courtesy for the public you serve... Especially when being a nuisance can be avoided.
