P0102 code

Hey Guys,

i have a 1997 TA with the LT1. Recently had the engine out so I thought to myself, I’ll mark and remove all the sensor connectors I’m not using. Needless to say now I’m throwing a P0102 code from the MAF. I have 5V at the yellow wire but nothing at the pink wire. What’s my next option? I tried tracing the wires back to where ever they connect too but looks like they run down towards to starter area.

Ive checked the #5 fuse beside the drivers door and the engine sensor fuse as well. Can I just hook up another 12v wire from the battery to it? Needless to say im getting frustrated with it!

Re: P0102 code

Does the main feed power go through the C105 or C100 connection?

Re: P0102 code

For some reason, the 1997 wiring harness seems to have a high failure rate for 12 volt power to the MAF sensor. The break occurs somewhere in the harness, after the splice that sends power to multiple devices. Worth trying to locate. But adding a new 12 volt wire is a common solution. You want ignition switched power, not unswitched direct from the battery. There is a spade lug (labeled “IGN”) in the fuse panel at the end of the dash that supplies switched accessory power and is protected by an adjacent fuse.

Do you have access to a factory service manual? If not, there’s a free download of the virtually identical 1996 manual here:

Re: P0102 code

I worked at it last night! Found the issue and resolved it! Happened as injuneer said, at the splice going to the other sensors. Anyways, no more issues!!

Thanks for the feedback on the solution. Wish everyone would do that.
