No volts to Mass Air
throwing code P0100, checked volts to MAF plug and got nothing. no visible problems with the wires. The eng sensor fuse (20a, #10) is blown and keeps blowing, Im no good at wiring, and im stuck on this one.

Re: No volts to Mass Air
Did you measure the voltage key on, between the pink wire and the black/white wire in the harness connector, with the connector off the MAF? Did you use the DC voltage setting?
There are numerous items on the "engine sensors" fuse. Unplug them, reconnect them one at a time, and see which one causes the fuse to blow. According to the 96 Owner's Manual, the connected devices include:
-Mass Air Flow
-Heated Oxygen Sensor
-Reverse Lockout Solenoid.
-Skip Shift Solenoid
-Brake Switch
May also supply the EVAP and EGR solenoids, as they are on the same fuse on other years.

Re: No volts to Mass Air
found the short, had a tiny bare spot on one of my rear o2 plugs, fuse is back in and have power to the mass air again, however the code is still there, is it possible that the short caused a failure in the MAF?

Re: No volts to Mass Air
the symptoms are still present, it misses pretty bad till you get it over about 2000, also is lacking overall power through the RPMs, so I think the MAF may be bad, just seeing if maybe i missed somethin or if the MAF was fried due to the short

Re: No volts to Mass Air
ok, cleared the code 0100 with a scan tool, light came on as soon as i started the car, still 0100 tested mass air plug with key on read 11.58 on the meter, so im thinkin its a dead MAF, unless you guys see anything else it could be?

Re: No volts to Mass Air
Additionally, it takes more than one "drive cycle" for the codes to clear. That's why you pull the PCM BAT fuse if you want to clear them and see how fast they come back.

Re: No volts to Mass Air
ok put a new MAF on the car, pulled the pcm fuse and cleared the codes dorve the car for about 20 min and the light came back on same code p0100, but the car runs much better just has a hickup at idle and seems to want to surge and almost die when coming to a stop, other than that it runs fine
