OTVC plug wires

Who has used the Taylor OTVC wire set up and where did you route the wires after you cleared the headers and went over the valve covers? I haven't bought this kit yet but it looks like it will help eleviate the risk of burnt wires if I can figure out where to route the wires back to the opti. Any opinions or experience out there??

Thanks

Re: OTVC plug wires

I have this kit and am very happy with it. I burnt through quite a few wires before I changed to this setup. I also went with the side mount Taylor kit, which comes with brackets to run the wires along side the valve cover instead of over top of it. IMO it just looks better this way. As far as routing them, the driver side was easy, there is a good bit of room to just run them down to the opti. On the passenger side, I routed the wires behind the alternator and then down to the opti. There isn't a whole lot of room, but you just have to make sure they are tight and lay cleanly between the alternator and the valve cover. Again, when you run them down to the opti, make sure they are tight and are not going to interfere with the belt or anything else. I don't have any pics to post but if you do a search for OTVC kits you can probably find some people with pics of their setups. Good luck!

Just a FYI, for the same price you can get a set of pre-cut OVC wires from elitesparkplugs.com and a set of Made For You wire looms from MFY. This way you wouldn't have to measure and cut the wires.

Here's mine:

Passenger side Pic 1
Passenger side Pic 2
Driver side Pic 3

I had to custom cut these and put the opti boot ends on.. which SUCKS!

Re: OTVC plug wires

I used to be a big fan of Taylor. I just made a set for OVTC wires 8mm from taylor, and they still had arcing problems at the spark plug ends. So I went with a set of elitesparkplug wires, and the quality of them are awesome. They are pretty much the same price, and I got the 1200 degree heat protection. I won't consider Taylor again till they make premade wires for OVTC.

Yeah I just got mine in this past week with the 1200* heat protection on them and they're amazing! They look and feel more durable than anything I've dealt with as far as a plug wire goes.

Re: OTVC plug wires

Trudualed and Zman, do the 1200* wires from elite fit in the OVC 8mm looms? It looks like those might be better for the long term. I've also heard of guys having trouble with Taylor wires.

Thx

bigdog96Z:

Yes they barely fit. It is a tight squeeze. It's not a perfect fit. But mine work with the 1200 degree heatprotection on ym elite wires.

Re: OTVC plug wires

So if you had it to do over again would you buy the 10mm looms?

Sorry for the 20 questions, just want to do it right.

Re: OTVC plug wires

How good are the wires from elitesparkplugs.com with the heat shields? Would it be good if it's a little close to the header primaries? I never heard anyone burn any wires or boots etc. using OTVC wires. I'm just worried about the tight spaces.
