Opti-Spark best source? '94 Z28

Gents,

I'm not sure who has the best pricing on the Opti-Spark at the moment, or if the MSD Billet one is still the hot item. What are people buying these days and what should I strongly avoid?

Basically wanting to know should I go to GM for a new opti, get the MSD Billet unit through Jegs/Summit, or grab a no namer off ebay.

My car has light mods; tune, CAI, full exhaust. It's mostly just a weekend cruiser with the occasional auto-x (not trying to win any prizes or sponsors just having fun).

Thanks all,
JSkeet

The MSD has never been the "hot item".

There are reports that the units now being sold by GM and Delphi are remanufactured. Just what I've read here. If that's true, it's a whole new ball game.

More research/feedback needed.

Check Rock Auto. They did have some new Delphi units left.

I was hoping this thread would generate a little more feedback.

So RockAuto and Delphi... that's the best option?

This question gets asked every couple of weeks. A "search" will turn up numerous threads.

The auto chain rebuilds and ebay cheapies often have a high failure rate. Hence the preference for Delco/Delphi. MSD costs more and offers no real advantages other than a vent on the 93/94 unvented model. Rock auto is not a brand.... the reference was to the fact that is a source with decent prices.

Here is who i have purchased the last couple i have bought. They are true Delphi but i am not sure if they are now reman's or brand new now. I have never had a problem with either of them and have alot of miles on both. They have gone up in price for the 93-94 ones though. The last one i purchaced was around 335.00 or so. Here is their link.
