Reading your posts, I also have to say the opti but I do have a question before replacing it. Your sig says you have an MSD coil but then you state you have the Accel 300+ ignition. The 300+ comes with their own coil.

If you have the MSD coil, DUMP THAT POS!!!! I've seen to many that have gone bad, including 2 of mine and a friends. Symptoms were similar to yours. If you have the Accel, bypass the box and then try another coil if that's not the case. I'd find another F-Body friend so you can swap out the coil with the ignition module. Eliminate as much as you can before throwing parts and money at it to fix it. That can get expensive really fast.

As far as the head gasket is concerned, take it to a radiator shop. They can test the cooling system to see if Hydrocarbons are present, i.e. blown head gasket.

Good Luck!

If jerking things around causes a problem than maybe tapping on things with the back of a screw driver might show up some problems. A gradual climb to red line Vs jumping on it doesn't sound like Opti.

Is there any way to scan it while your driving to see what some of the sensors are doing. I use my Snap-on scanner while I'm driving to view somethings, it might help you.
