OK... I was coming home today and went to pass someone and slammed the gas and I hit the "brick" wall.. Car just cut out completly!! Scared the crap out of me... What can this be?? Opti is my #1 culprit but it just cant be! It doesnt even have 1000 miles on it.. I checked the plugs and wires and they are all fine... WTF?!!!! Starts and drives normally but if you get on it you BETTER be wearng your seat belt!!!!! Anyone have any ideas what this is??? I think the accel 300+ is grounding out when it gets jerked around a bit.. Im going to disconnect it and drive around and ill post how it was... Oh and Happy Thanksgiving you all!!

Uhh... yes it can be. I've had 2 friends with out of the box faulty Optis, and mine died at less than 10K miles.

30 seconds should be plenty.

Yea it probably is.. How can I check to make sure?? Also My headers are wrapped so I dont think a plug wire could ground out.. I just replaced that damm thing, Could it be that my accel box is grounding out? I think it might be hitting the screw when I hit the gas.. It only does it when you give the car a REALLLLL jerk.. Moderate acceleration up to the redline will do fine, if the car jerks around it will cutout.. Like if im cruising in 1st and im at like 10 MPH and I mash the gas, as soon as the car starts flying it cuts out, but if i dont make the car jerk and go as smoothly but as quickly up to redline as i can it will go fine, when i shift to second it will do it too but only if I power shift... I dont understand it..

check all your wires and make sure you have a good connection

seeing how you said ONLY when you jerk it around, then it could be a bad ground....

i dont see the opti doing this if you go up to redline during moderate accelloration , check ur wires

when i said check your wires i meant on your ignition setup NOT nessacirly your plug wires, but id definaly check into this its PROBABLY an ignition problem so thats a good place to start trying to identify the problem

I actually just came inside from doing that... I checked them all over and made sure they were connected to the opti good.. They dont have a single mark on them.. Plugs are tight aswell and new NGK's...

We were typing at the same time... I didnt check all the wires.. Like what though??? I checked the opti harness and the ICM and the copper ground wire going from the heads to the frame, it looks alittle frail but seems to be ok.. im replacing it anyway saturday..

Yea, i have an accel 300+... It would cause the car not to start if the threads of the mounting bolts were touching the box, it was a pain in the *** to seperate the screws from the box but I did.. I think it might be being thrown up against the screws when i hit the gas, there are only 2 screws in there now, i mounted it near the fuse box and fuel lines....
