Arrow this low of an e.t. on a stock car possible?

one of my buddies has a 95 Z28 camaro, its an automatic and has 3.73 gears as his only mod. it has the stock air box and the paper filter, with the stock cat back exhaust system. the only mod that is done to it is the gears. and he said he ran this...oh and he had a pair of e.t streets on the back.

8.661 et. 1/8th

does this sound right?!?!?!

steve...

hummmmmmmmm it is possible but it would require one hell of a running lt1 with a nice 60ft time. ask him his 60ft time and mph. will be able to tell more from that

With gears and traction, and a good driver, yeah, it definetly is possible.

i would say so in decent weather at a track with a low elevation. i was running 8.6's in the 1/8 w/ bolt ons. ended up being low 13.4's/high 13.3's in the 1/4. what was his 60'? that seems like a very strong running stock LT1 but anything is possible i guess. i was running 13.0's w/ CAI,free mods,LT4 clutch and STOCK exhuast manifolds, so it isnt out of the ? i guess.

I guess anything is possible. I think it would have to be one of the best running LT1s ever plus with no tq conv., Im thinking he must have reved it to like 5000rpm threw it into gear....and hoped that he didnt break anything.

That's only like a 13.4...and the car has gears, people. Depending on the gears, that can be up to .6 in the 1/4...

With et streets your buddy's probably hooking up better than most people with the same setup and with an auto car that'll help.

As a comparsion my Formula only hooks a 2.0 60ft with my DR's but it et's in the 1/4 now around 13.30's @ almost 105mph. That works out to an 1/8 mile et of around 8.7ish @ almost 82 and a bit mph.

Its all time best et happened this past Aug. at a F-body shootout where it ripped off a 13.23 @ 102.96mph hooking a 1.981 60 ft. At the 1/8 mile point that run was a 8.602 @ 82.73mph.

My mods are limited but I do have a bit more than your friend. I figure your buddy's probably hooking a 1.7 60 ft. to run a 8.661 1/8 with et streets but he'll probably be down a couple of mph over what that time would reflect as power from the car. Keep in mind an auto's going to take more power to drive over a M6 car.

I hope to remedy the lack of traction from my car this coming winter. I got a Spohn TA on the way and my goal next year is to get into the high 12's without touching anything else on the car. It's going to get interesting.
