Thumbs up OK explain to me this...

Ok before my car was stumbling making a pinging sound missing, backfiring.

I replaced the spark plug wires and poof, its working great!

u better believe i probably lost 1/4 inch off my tread in the last 5 minutes of driving. everything works great!!!

i lost controll due to the tranny shifting twice!!

its got so much more power now.

there must be something im not understanding about these wires, although 2 of the wires were missing insullation, in two strips each similar patterns. so i guess the wires were arcing.

omg ive never seen a car burn out as bad as i just did (in person)

my car is running 200% better then when i bought it 2 months ago!

i hope those wires dont come back to bite me tho, i got the cheap ones at autozone with 7mm didnt have the cash for any better ones and i didnt wanna wait for them to get em in...

haha lets see that g35 keep up now
Pontiac has a new customer... u better believe if they bring back a 5th generation im getting another bird!

Electricity is like most humans, it takes the path of least resistance. So when you have an opening or weak point in the wire, the electricity is going to go through that point first and ground itself out on the closest metal object way before it gets to the spark plug. There's a power loss.

hehe I hope mine improves too , I talked to the guy working on it this moring , he said it was leaking terribly especially on the passenger side , which is the side i been getting cat errors from. Hopefully Ill get some of my power back after all this. Its always nice to see improvement after a simple repair (as simple as can be on these things) like plug wire. Congrats on your times btw wish me luck as I should be back to the track friday if all goes well Ill find out if this all what was holding my car back .

Think about it.... if you aren't firing all the cylinders, its sort of like driving a V-6, or maybe an I-4.

And, a misfire, in addition to losing all the power, messes up the computer. The O2 sensors see all the unused oxygen, interpret it as "running lean", and start to add a ton of extra fuel you don't really need, reducing power even more, fouling your plugs, etc. The worse it misses, the worse it gets, daily.

Good for you NEWB. I'm happy to hear that. You been bustin loose on the board lately. 620 posts in 3 months. I can see you made it worth while. I was beginning to think you bought someones problem.

Anyway...Compstall, Fred and others. I just threw in my motor and after a couple days car was missing. i found my #6 was touching the header and slightly burnt. It was only a lil though the rubber and I could barely see white (insulation). I pulled it back and it worked terrific again. I heat taped it up and heat wrapped it. I know it won't work the best but will it hamper my car a lot. The motor is brand new so I can't tell what its optimal performance is. I got a new set coming in but was wondering if I can run it like this for awhile. Been working on this car for a couple months straight and if I can get away with it like this for awhile just to take a break I'd like to do that.

thanks
