1st to 2nd bang shift

K got a 94 z28 4l60e everything works great except it shifts hard from 1st to 2nd, when i bought it i was told it was because of a shift kit, but now I'm second guessing isn't this bang hard on my drivetrain . How do i kno if it has a shift kit or a mechanical problem. I dont know where to start there are no warning lights on and all the other shifts work fine. If it had a shift kit would that explain a hard shift into 2nd?

There are codes for the 4L60E, but they don't turn on the SES light. You have to scan the PCM to see if there are codes.

Re: 1st to 2nd bang shift

In the old days when a shift kit was installed, all the gears would (bang).1st to 2nd ,2nd to 3rd,ect.I would first check your trans fluid level. Also, maybe a trans fluid and filter change might be in order if your trans fluid is not red.And I don't mean brown or almost red but red.Like this faceI'm not mad(in some circles anyway)Next thing to go is that solenoid thing on the side of the trans. It's computer controlled and I guess they ware out to.I'm not in that camp but have read a lot of posts saying that solenoid can be a problem.Hope this helps.My02.
