You undid the oil cooler, so you should be good. I did them all with a socket. Where neccessary use a swivel and ~16" extension. My guess is your trying to use a std 3" extension, you need a long mother.

good luck

I got all the bolts out, woo hoo, thanks everyone. Now to my next issue. I have the trans and back of the motor out (thank god), I also have the driver side BIG LONG bolt out of the motor mount. I turned the pully and put it to the top so i can clear the crank bolts. The pan then droped about 1 inch. I wish i can get mroe room but dont know how. I was thinking of something, taking the old gasket out does not look to hard, I am just gonna cut it and keep that metal brace thats on the gasket so i dont over tighten it. I was wondering, has ANYONE sucessfully sliped on the gasket from the outside? What i mean is slipping the gasket around the oil pan and then working it up so it can lay on the lip? From what I see when i look in the rear of the pan is the crank, I dont see how i can work it around, ideas?

Um...I changed the oil pan and gasket in mine...You should pull both motor mount bolts, and jack the engine up about 3"..This will allow the pan to almost fall out...Then you can do it right. Do you really want to do it twice because of a leak?
As a side note, Don't forget to remove your oil level sensor. It rests on top of the pickup tube. The pan won't drop all the way down until you take it out.

I did this on my car about 2 months ago and never had any of the problems you are talking about. My friend and I seriously had all the bolts out of the oil pan in about 10 mins. We used a 3/8 drive with a swivel and some long extensions. About the gasket, we didnt take out the motor mount bolts but we had to cut the gasket on the one pan rail side. We did this by taking some tin snips or something sharp that will cut through the gasket and metal material in the middle. Make a diagonal cut and not a straight one. Make the cut like this / or like this \ and not like this | . Once you make the cut on the gasket, you can easily install the gasket along with some RTV on each corner of the front and rear main seals. And then once the ends are stuck up there, use some more RTV where you cut the gasket and stick them to the pan rail on the block. The gasket should now be temporarily be stuck to the block and reinstall the actual pan along with the stiffener rails. On my car, I didnt have any leaks and it worked great. The reason for cutting the pan gasket was because you cant get the gasket around the oil pump pickup in the pan. I hope this works and if you have any questions, email me and I will try and help ya.

About getting the gasket on, I have heard about people slipping the gasket over the OUTSIDE of the pan and bringing it up from the outside, anyone do this?

I did. I sent you an email with some directions. Trgust me, the gasket has enough play to wrap around the edge of the pan. Email me if you need more help.
