oil level sensor on new lt1 383

i bought my 383 from an engine builder and it came with the oil pan oil level sensor fitting plugged with a brass fitting. i think i can unscrew it and put the original oil level sensor in, but am wondering if there is a reason not to use the sensor, mainly being if it won't go in because it is going to hit something in the oil pan. i am contacting the engine builder about it but haven't heard back yet, and am wondering if any of you have run into this.

Clearance of something is the only thing I can think of. I removed mine because my pan had zero clearance on the oil level sensor to the header.

wow. no kidding. i don't have that problem, and am more wondering if there is something *inside* the pan that the probe/float will hit.

The oil pump is really the only thing in the sump. If it screws in, and you don’t bottom out on the pump, you should be fine.

From Shoebox:

The oil level sensor would be to the left of the pickup in this upside down picture.
