Oil Leak Found!

Hey guys:

I've posted some questions recently about an oil leak I have had for a few weeks. Took it to Straight Line racing here in Toronto and turns out it is coming from the crank case seal.

I'm looking at about $230 to fix. Not bad I guess.

I hadn't had anyone mention that before so I'm assuming it is rare and thought I should post it to let you guys know another possible cause for these drips under that car.

Thanks,
Asim

Yeah, must be rare. I don't know what a crank case seal is. They must mean something else that we all call something else.

Where the crank comes out of the block. What the ballancer is attached to?

Not sure of there is a more common name.

Ah, I see. The front crank shaft seal.

$230 seems high to fix that, even at Canadian rates. A $7 part and maybe 45 minutes work with the right tools.
