I was driving and under hard acceleration I started to smell oil didn’t visibly see a leak under my car but i noticed from being Parked over night there were some drip marks. I looked under the hood and there’s oil on my passenger valve cover so I’m assuming it’s the valve cover gasket but I noticed it appears that oil is coming out of the oil cap. There was also a little bit of oil on top of my alternator. Anyone wanna take a guess of what to replace?
Sounds like the PCV system may be plugged up, and pressure is building in the crankcase, and forcing oil to blow out of openings. Is there also oil on the passenger side valve cover at the back, where the PCV system air supply line/elbow inserts into the grommet?
Alternatively, you may have significant combustion gasses bypassing worn piston rings, overloading the PCV system with more blowby than it can handle. Check the hose from the throttle body to the passenger valve cover for oil buildup. That’s where both of the above possible problems will show up, dumping oil into the throttle body, and then into the intake manifold.
