OBDI to OBDII

Is there a way to convert my 95 Z28 to OBDII? I have the 16 pin connector. The label under the hood says OBDI compliant. I bought a laptop dyno to check codes and then found out that it is OBDI. The 16 pin thru me off. If there isn't, is there a way to plug a laptop into OBDI? Thanks

Im sure there is a way to convert, but it wont be easy. The OBD2 has some extra sensors so you would need to add those to your car. Will be much easier and probably cheaper to buy the correct software.

Easier to buy a cable for your OBD1.
www.akmcables.com

Get the "crimp" style cable. I think it's like $65.

OBD-I software is much cheaper. I sure wouldn't convert to OBD-II just for diagnostic reasons.

there is certainly no performance benefit.

They rev higher, also no high stall issues. But for diagnostics, blah.

obd1 to obd2...lol. I think that obd1 makes more power and is easier to tune than obd2. I see lots of people converting to obd1 from 2. As for the high stall issue, isnt there a fix for that.

As far as i know there is no power difference. Actually if anything i would think OBDII would make more power becase there are more sensors and the engine is better managed.

I converted to OBD1 b/c I had LT1 edit for OBD1 and also Datamaster.

It says on Ion's(madz28) website that obd1 makes like 10hp more or something.

Well he would know better than i would.

I thought that was going from a stock tune to his tune with lower fan temps, premium fuel, etc.

Maybe he can chime in and let us know.
