Not to loud catback
Re: Not to loud catback
Hey, like I said, I don't know valvetrains all that well. Maybe the stock rockers have tons of friction, and maybe you can get the 10-15hp you were hoping for. You should probably start a new thread in the LT1 engine forum and ask for yourself.
Regardless, aftermarket rockers are probably stronger, and maybe lighter (like I said, I don't know). When you're going to high-horsepower stuff like that, sometimes you just have to put in some stronger pieces to support the power you're making. It's kinda like dropping $2000 on a 12-bolt, or a hundred on a set of cro-moly pushrods. It won't do a thing for your times, but it's definitely worth the money.

I heard that the 1.7's they make are supposed to be pretty nice quality too. Just make sure you get a set of GM guideplates for it. Regular SBC plates wont fit it properly, and switching from 1.5 to 1.7's you definatly will need new valve springs, so get a valve spring compressor. Get the one made for an LT1 though, it makes the job easier and the tool is like 2o or 30 $ ???
Re: Not to loud catback
I am kind of hoping when I get that close I will be able to borrow one from someone on the board or buy one used. 30 bucks isnt that bad I thought they where more. I did get the LT4 springs locks retainers etc so I should be allset I am getting the GM guide plates but I am going to replace the studs at that tiem you might as well cause you have to unscrew them to put in the plates.
