Re: Not to loud catback

It sucks that they sound SOOOOOOOO good ...

I want to get rid of my Flowmaster so my exhaust system isnt bottlenecked, but theres no way to keep the sound without spending lots of money ! It annoys me.

Nobody mentioned SLP TOTL? Quiet cat-back that flows very well.

Mine is pretty quiet at idle, when you open it up though its actually louder than my friends 5.0 and that has Mac Mids, X Pipe, and Dual 40's

At idle though its just slightly louder than stock really.

Re: Not to loud catback

I used to have an 80 Series Flowmaster on my formula. It was kinda loud at idle with stock manifolds and pretty quiet at WOT too. I had Kook's LT's and 3" ORY pipe installed with the flowmaster 80's. I had to get a new catback after the headers....the 80 series was QUIETER than STOCK at idle, and all I heard was the loud roar of the LT1 - no exhaust tone at WOT. I love my new TSP Rumbler though, but it's louder than what you want I would suggest SLP TOTL, it sounds very deep and badass. Hooker would be another good choice.

Dynomax Super Turbo is about as quiet as you're going to get in a 'performance muffler'. Or maybe the quietest of the Flowmasters, 80 series I think?
2OTL is fairly quiet when new and has a very nice cruising tone.

I agree on this as well. The 2OTL is definitely quiet while cruising and does have a good tone at WOT. If you want it a little louder, like I did, then an offroad pipe does the trick. It sounds amazing with an ORP, especially above 3k RPM. Deep and well refined sound

I love my 2OTL, it has a very nice, deep sound. To me it's by no means quiet, but it's not as loud as my Flowmaster was.

My 6 year old 2OTL is definitely louder than it was when new. I'm thinking of buying a new 2OTL muffler for it. The stainless steel pipes are in pristine shape, though.

Re: Not to loud catback

If you want one that's not "too loud" then you can ignore the Loudmouth completely.

I don't know what the heck the question you just asked about the Magnaflow was, but the part number for the 93-97 Fbody Magnaflow catback is 15620. It fits perfectly on single cat cars, not sure how it well it works w/ the later dual cat setups...

Ummm OK you uys can laugh at me now cause the loudmouth I thought was made by Magnaflow is made by SLP and thats why no one could tell me if there was more than one model of Magnaflow. Please dont laugh to hard LOL. I think I am going with the Magnaflow and I emailed the guys at SLP to see if they could make me a Y pipe to fit my car either dual cat single cat or no cat I dont care whichever flows better.

Personally, I would save your money on the aftermarket y-pipe. You could spend a few hundred in change and get very minimal gains. An aftermarket y-pipe is more effective/beneficial when paired up with a set of headers.
