But the best thing to do is put a scanner on the PCM and look at the reading the PCM is seeing from the sensor. Have you scanned it for codes? Is the SES light on?
Yes the SES light is on. I need to get a good scanner. Anyone recommend a resonably priced one & where I can purchase it?

If all you want is a simple OBD-II code scanner, you can find them for as little as $50. Try Harbor Freight. One of the people here bought one and tried it and it worked fine.

For something more inclusive, consider the AutoTap OBD-II software. With the "GM Enhanced Parameters" option, you can see and data log virtually any operating data, sensors, calculated parameters, etc. in the PCM.

Thanks for the advice Injuneer! I ended up buying a scanner Friday.

Update. I reran all the plug wires on the passenger side. All wires are connected in the correct order. Triple checked this. Checked all the wires on the driver's side. All wires are connected in the correct order.

I hooked the battery up & tried to start it again. Spits, sputters almost started once but never started. Hooked up the scanner. It showed only one code:

P0122 Throttle Position Sensor/Pedal Position Sensor Low Voltage.

I checked the wires the wires to make sure I am getting power from the PCM. Checked & I showed 4.95 V.

So it sounds like the TPS is bad or not engaging the throttle bar right. Would this be why it won't stay cranked? Checked it again. No other codes.

FWIW, my car acted similar to that and yes it was my TPS. I have a thread on it somewhere in LT1tech

Update. I replaced the TPS sensor. Tried to crank the car. Car Spits, sputters like it wants to crank but never does. Scanned the car and now there are no codes. Checked the fuel pressure again & its 41 psi at the rail at prime. Gonna check for spark next. God, this is so frustrating. I at least had it cranking for a little while before now nothing.

Have you looked into the IAC? Before buying one, any friends local with LT1 that you could swap and try it out first?

I know you have a new ICM and coil, but for reassurance check the green wire from ICM to coil for ground while cranking.

Just a thought , cuz earlier in the thread I was all over what injuneer was saying and in agreeance, but I have yet to see this mentioned. When you put your new headers on did you use new 02's? The coating will ruin them shortly after burn it. Another common problem is utilizing the chepo o2 sensor extensions they send, or even with the good ones being burnt on the headers themselves. Definitely worth looking at.

I put new O2s on it & yes unfortunately I used the cheap extentions. I really don't see that being an issue for it not cranking up. Its gonna be in open loop until the O2s reach operating temp.

^I would suggest performing a search on that and see what you find out. It is rather common after a header install. Closed loop and open loop aside there are two fuel management centerpieces that directly correlate to the amount of fuel being called for and one is the temp sensor (already covered) the other(s) are the 02's.

It could be a bad ground as stated earlier but it is definitely worth checking out. Do you still have your old O2's?

Has it started well and run correctly at all since you rebuilt it?
That's exactly what happened to mine in this video.

Didn't realize that. Would it not show a code though? I'll definately check that out! Thanks for the heads up!

What I mentioned here didn't set a code either.

Update. Checked for spark. All 8 plug wires are firing. Car will only spit & sputter. Can't even get it to crank now. DAMNIT! Gonna call Bryan at PCMforless to see if I can send him the PCM to check to see if it is OK. I am at my wits end.

I checked for voltage coming from the PCM. 5.01 volts. I have no idea how in the hell you are suppose to check the resistance of the sensor with it on the car. You can't even see the terminals. I've wasted 30 minutes trying to do this & I give up. The sensor is brand new so I can only assume it is working OK. There are currently no codes showing up on the scanner.
