Need help with driveshaft/zero lash!

First, I've been trying to fix the "ticking" i hear from the rockers. I adjusted them using the method of getting #1 tdc on just the driver side, the ones that can be adjusted. And now every once in a while the idle is a little wierd/rough. It threw up an SES code for 30 seconds and went off, I went to AZ but they don't have an OBD-1 scanner, so I'll have to go to my shop. If I tightened it too tight would it cause that?

Secondly, my drive shaft is bent( and most likely unbalanced ). Near the end it looks as if someone took a tool and squeezed it and pinched it on both sides. I found this out after I pulled it out and drove 50 miles to a speed shop to have it balanced. But I don't know if that is causing this symptom. In any gear, as I get close to 2000 rpm and higher, I feel a vibration in the manual stick and the cluch pedal. When I release it from the gear into nuetral the vibration lesses considerably. As I approach higher speeds the vibration gets worse as I approach 2000 in any gear. Anything past that and I'm scared the car will fall apart!

Is it just the driveshaft? What do you guys think?

If it is bent, why did you put it back on? It sounds like your vibration is related to rpm, not axle speed which would not indicate a driveshaft imbalance. But was the driveshaft installed properly after you had it balanced?

Re: Need help with driveshaft/zero lash!

I had to drive the car back from ft wayne to get it home I just took it out when I was there, and they would not balance it because it had two small bends in it.
I will go home this weekend and pull it out and put it in and see what happens after I adjust the zero lash. Thanks for helping!

If misery loves company I just wanted you to know I have the exact same problem. I've noticed an ever worsening problem with vibration through the clutch pedal at higher engine RPM. Anybody know what this could be?
