Need Help Asap!!

I bought a 96 Trans AM roller. it has a TH400 FMVB, Trans break, ford 9in. tublar front and rear suspension...The car went 9.7's with the old 396ci setup.....It weigh was 3800lbs. I have the car down to 3300lbs.....My question is will a standered small block Chevy...I have found a still on a 406ci.....will the motor fit in the car? thanks

Several people have put Gen 1 SBC's ion their 4th Gen F-Bodys. Takes a bit of work, but it will fit. The big problem is under the cowl, where clearance for the distributor is limited. If its a "track car", you take the wiper linkage out and cut up the cowl. But even without that, its possible to fit the distributor in there.

Hood clearance can be a problem if you are using a carb.

yeah a genI SBC fits and they do make low profile distributors that should fit under that cowl with no problem.
