Dont want to ship, that gets expensive as I need to even see if it has cracks first. Is there a shop that someone know in the area that can give me a 50RA surface?

 

You might want to ask around at your local dealers where they send heads to get resurfaced. Mine was sent off to a local shop by Woodall Chevy and they did a good job on them. Might be a good place to start.

If a certain name keeps getting mentioned, that's either a good thing or the only game in town.

 

Get the yellow pages out and call around to at least ten places. You will get very different answers, prices, etc. Go with your gut, that's what I have always done and I always get quality work. You may not choose the cheapest place, just make sure you choose the BEST place.
