Hey Joe. I live in surprise also, off of 163rd ave. and grand ave. I did heavy research and called around plenty of shops. After I called around I ended up feeling confident about a certain engine builder/machine shop. There is a place in the deer valley area called "gene's engine service" that is awesome. Here is their number: 623-582-0373. It is a father/son operation with no other employees. They took a few weeks to rebuild my engine. They did all the machine work and I even used the same pistons/rods/crank that had 160k miles on them. Let me know if you need a hand, I have first hand experience on taking the engine out of this car, out the bottom. I wouldn't mind giving you a hand if you are serious about rebuilding it. Give me a call. Steve 623-262-7775

    97Z28 Muscle,

Hello, I read the post about how you ended up rebuilding your engine. I see that your in arizona, i was wondering what city? I live in Surprise (west valley) and i am interested in rebuilding my LT1 in my 97Z. I was curious what shops you took your parts to and if you had a good experience with them? I plan on removing the engine myself and tearing it down and putting it back together myself. It seems to me thats exactly what you did. I plan on keeping the engine stock i would like to just "refresh it" The only thing i plan on doing is an CAI and exhaust after the build.

    Thanks for your help!
