Need Confirmation of Bad Fuel Pump!

If its not one thing. Its another with my 94 LT1 Camaro. After replacing the rubber gromet on the transmission dipstick. I fired the car up to check for leaks and there were no leaks. I got in the car started it up and drove it 100 feet and the car fell on its face. No power at all. I made it home. Check the fuel pressure. While the key was on the needle DID NOT MOVE. I started the car and the needle DID NOT MOVE. In fact the motor died shortly after. IS this a FUEL PUMP? All Vacumm lines fuel lines are fine. Car was running fine prior to this.

when my pump went bad, it kept dieing on me randomly. id be at a red light with the car running fine, as soon as i go to move the car would die. would not start for 10 minutes and then fired back up. did it more and more often until it didnt start back up. got no pressure from the pump. made no noise when i turned the key.

listen for the pump to prime when you turn the key to on, but not start. you should hear the pump wine to pressurise the lines. if you hear nothing your pump might be bad.

might also want to check your relay. located behind where your left foot rests, behind the kick panel. i guess there go bad and cause people to think its the fuel pump.

but if your getting no pressure at all, your pump is prob shot.

Try bypassing the fuel pump relay, by supplying 12V to the fuel pump prime connector near the PCM. That will determine if the relay is contributing to the problem. Shoebox has a photo of the connector:

Make sure the gauge you are using is depressing the core on the shrader valve. Sounds like it might not be.

I will check all those things. But IM going to check one thing first. AND IM A AIR HEAD FOR SAYING THIS. I think I might be out of "GAS". Motor was running completly fine prior to me checking for leaks. My gas gauge is Low as well. It doesn't read accurate very well. When the gas needle is slightly over the E its usaully out of gas. The pump I think is ok because I hear it prime when I turn the KEY. Guys If its out of GAS. I owe all of you an APOLOGY for wasting your time posting on my post.

Hopefully that's the case. If it's not then make sure the FP gauge is hooked up correctly and if your readings are fine key on then tape it to your windshield and take it down the road to see if it drops under load. That's what I had to do to mine to see that my fuel pump was going out.

While running it completely out of gas is not the best thing for the pump, Its still better than the pump actually being bad. Glad you got your car running.
