Re: My New BRE ProRam

I got the the intake, heads, and all the valvetrain components a few days ago and it all looks great. My heads have 2.05" intake valves which i am not sure are going to clear stock valve reliefs. My buddy has a stock lt1 shortblock at his shop so i am going to try taking the stuff there and make sure it clears before i rip my car apart... So i'll try to get that done soon.

Ken,
If it helps, my Brodix heads have 2.08" valves and cleared the stock reliefs OK. You're wise to check though.

Good luck!

Please keep the posts to a technical nature, this forum doesn't need any more posts that add nothing to the discussion. Thanks.

Re: My New BRE ProRam

Don't know if jimlab's intake is the best comparison to make. Remember, he told Hogans that it had to fit under the hood of an RX7.

As compared to stock, you could probably get another 2" of runner length in there if you do it tunnel-ram style. I'm sure Hogans could accomadate a design to do that. Ellis posted a link to pics of his 18º/Hogans setup. That's a way higher port, but some extra length is still noticable in the pics.

If the standard sbc had a port layout more like that of a Ford, LSx or even sb2, building something with even more runner length would be easier. Siamesing throws a monkey wrench in the process unless you want something like TPI.

Sorry to go tangent but considering that Ken is gonna make another thread when it's all done, I didn't see the harm.

Nice Thanks.

I made a thread before asking what the largest valves people had run before on stock lt1 pistons and everyone that responded with either stock castings or AFRs only ran a 2.02 valve.

From measurements that I got from SAR2K, and doing a little math it looks like i will have .025 radial clearance between the side of the intake valve and the relief with 2.05 valves. 2.10" being max, so you're 2.08s just made it, it seems.

Thanks for the confirmation.

Re: My New BRE ProRam

nateh,

You are using the -10 right? Not the -10X... that'd be a lot of work. Just curious.

Doesn't have to easy, MG, just achievable.

Re: My New BRE ProRam

Well the intake is all ready to go on now that the fuel connections to the stock lines have been figured out and done. I had a lot of crap go wrong on the car (clutch, trans, brakes, hurricane damage, my new hood got damaged by fedex, etc) so i had a lot of other things put the intake and other upgrades on the back burner. But i'm still trying to push forward
