My Cap and rotor bad? (PIC INSIDE)
My Cap and rotor bad? (PIC INSIDE)
Well I developed a low RPM miss (not bad, but enough to bother me) so I went ahead and pulled the cap, and this is what I found. Would these three points be a cause for it? The plasit below them looks almost burnt, or corroded, or something. Thanks in advance, Steven.
Re: My Cap and rotor bad? (PIC INSIDE)
My friend just replaced his cap and rotor and his car ran fine afterward. My car ran fine for a long tme, and when I pulled my opti the inside looked really corroded on those pins.
I just replaced the whole opti, why pay 130 dollars when for 100 more you can do the whole thing right.
In my opinion it would suck to have to take it off and do it all over again.

Re: My Cap and rotor bad? (PIC INSIDE)
Appears to me to be "carbon tracking". That will cause misfiring between cylinders.
What does the tip of the rotor look like? Is it burned, causing the spark to have to jump a large gap to the contacts on the car?

Re: My Cap and rotor bad? (PIC INSIDE)
Looks like you have some high resistance on the wires to those cyls. causing the spark to jump back to the cap. It sure looks like carbon.Ya need to check the wires on those cyl's against another wire about the same length and see the ohm difference,if any. And your plugs could be wider than they should be.Set them at .035 and get rid of that problem with them.
