Power from porting?

Is there power to be gained just by gasket matching the heads and intake? Anybody tried this. Just wondering if they are a restriction or not.

If you only gasket match them, you would notice not a thing. The restriction is the few inches either side of the valvejob, after that is opened up then the opening at the port may become a restriction.

Re: Power from porting?

You will get the most gains from a 3 angle valve job and porting the inside of the heads - bowl blend. Dont' get sold on the 5 angle, it's a gimmick and you will not notice any difference between it and the 3 angle. It's just more $$$ for the shop. I have been told this by many machinists, head guys, etc...

But to more directly answer your question, yes it will help and make power. Simple really. Bigger ports = more flow, more flow = more HP.

Thanks guys, I figured as much but wasn't sure if this was the case for LT1 heads.
