Not sure I understand - cover for what? The "cap" is the cover. You use the entire Opti, less the rotor if you decide to remove it. The optical module is fastened to the rear 1/2 of the housing. From Mike Chaney's Opti Disection Page:

Delteq sells a billet cover for $95.00

I just wanted to update anyone interested. The MSD Opti now has 11,000 miles on it. The engine has 321,000 miles. Still no issue with the MSD.

my MSD is giving me trouble right now also, which is why I am researching on it right now. My car is sputtering and misfiring up to 3000 rpm's which is similiar to the regular analysis. I have changed my plugs, wires, coil, check fuel injectors and whole fuel system for that matter, the only thing left is the @#$%ing opti-spark. Really wish I would have bought an LS1. So I am gonna check for the red dust, and see if that is the problem. I better get my money back for that piece of @#$%, is all I have to say.

I looked up under the car and noticed the cover is slightly off. One side is down further than the other side. I have the car running perfectly but i will be pulling it if it has any problems. The cover screws are very soft and hard to remove once there in.

Josh, sorry to hear about your problem. Since I got the new one from MSD, I now have 13,000 miles with no more issues. If you have the same problem I did, it will be obvious once you open the cover. Good luck with it.
