If I was running a dino oil, Pennzoil would be one of my top choices.

Engine:
Mobile One
Tranny:
Mobile One Synthetic ATF
Rear End:
Mobile One Synthetic Gear Lube 75w-90
Misc Lubricating(like bolts and whatnot):
Mobile One Synthetic Universal Grease
As you can tell I don't believe in Mobile One. I have just heard to many great stories about the product to trust it

I agree with LT1coz. Royal Purple isn't the cheapest, but I had Mobil 1 in the engine, tranny and diff that I swapped to RP and I have to shift quicker now. I haven't been to the track to see if it made a difference there, but it definitely revs quicker now. I have heard Mobil keeps cheapening up the formula of Mobil 1 every time they "redesign" it. There was an independent study done a while back that tested all the synthetic formulas and believe it or not Mobil 1 was among the worst performers. I'll see if I can find the link to the site of it's still there.

Castrol Syntec 5-50w. Its synthetic and the VESCOSITY RANGE says it all really. The 5w provides the flow (especially cold) specified by GM, and the 50w provides the heat/stress shear protection beyond what GM specifies. Synthetics don't use additives to widen the vescosity range like dino oils do.

An doing an oil pan an timing cover gaskets in the LT1s atleast isn't really like a project u wana get into unless u have to.
