Wix is the way to go or napa gold..only 5 bucks, has metal cage inside bypass etc. Purolator is a good option also.

Ford also has good filters/motorcraft

dude me and a follow board member work for mobil 1. the mobil 1 extended performance filters are JUNK. They leak and crumble to oil pressure. exxon-mobil thinks its cool to slap on the mobil 1 name on a pos filter thats it. everything mobil is junk and overpriced expect for mobil 1 syn oil.

Which is why more than 100,000 LT1/4s came from the factory with M1 and a "Use M1 only" label...

I don't understand this great oil debate. I've been told to only run M1 5w-30 or 10w-30 for aslong as I've owned my z28 (12years). I understand how marketing etc play a role in everything blah blah blah. With that aside I don't see how an oil analysis would give you a better oil than all the rest, because there are too many variables to account for....i.e dirt roads, weather, operation of vehicle at wot non-stop etc.

I live in a place where it's not uncommon to see -30 degrees in winter and 101 degrees in summer. I've never had a problem with oil pressure, leaks, broken internal parts, metal shavings....nothing. Mobil 1 5w-30 has been in my car exclusively for 12 years strong. Changed every 3000 miles exactly, and now have 63,002 miles after I changed oil yesterday. Car is alive and full of power as it has ever been, and has been far from being pampered....*shrugs* so wtf!

Now, the M1 Filter is a different matter..... I've never used one before. Only WIX or K&N

The longer Mobil filter is listed for the H2 Hummer in the book.

I've been told that the Fram filters collapse as well - as for changing M1 every 3k miles I think that is a waste of money - you can go a lot longer between changes with a synth oil

bob is the oil guy site list the best filters.....guess whats #1?

There is plenty of oil reports there.....I wouldn't waste money on M1....wouldn't put it in my lawn mower if you gave it to me.

there was a post on here awhile back saying it actually harms your engine more if you change it that early. they said it was better to keep it for many miles over recommended, but to change the filter in those intervals.

i still change mine at least every 3-5k though.

every time you change your oil you encounter a "dry start" when it takes a few seconds for the pump to prime and then fill the filter and oil galleys.
