Mobil 1 oil filter for LT1

Hello, My local Adv. Auto seems to have in numerical order the full line of M1 oil filters except for what is recommended for a LT1. I believe the p# is M1-111.

Which other p# will work? My Z is stock right height and has exhaust manifolds. Thanks

* ACDelco

what proof do you want, do you think GM would really produce a sub par filter?

i have seen numerous accounts of "expensive" filters actually doing too good of a job and clogging up

no to mention i said "i think", it was just my opinion. like i said gm is not gonna recommend a sub par filter so why waste money

Again what are you baseing this on? My focus though would be why the M1 oil? Been awhile since I really kept up on it but when I did M1 was NOT a great oil for the LT1, now if you had say a turbo VW it was awesome, but NOT a smallblock Chevy of any generation.

What the heck would I know though I just did research on wear metal content in used oil, that couldn't be meaninful.

Right! That would be the test that showed Mobil 1 performed less than
what a lot of folks believe (?). I've got the report and appreciate the
effort. Now running Royal Purple 10/40.

I have developed no real loyalty. I am sure it would horrify most of you to hear I have used WalMart filters BUT I happen to know Champion Labs makes them and the Delcos and cutting them apart they seem to be the same. WAY WAY better than the Fram garbage most think is good.

I do have some German Castrol to run this season.

I just jump on these oil threads because the overwhelming majority of replies are based on noting but BS marketing and actual measured data is blindly ignored, as proved by the frequency you see M1 recommended despite high iron readings in particular. Again though I just go looking for measured data, nothing meaningful.

I do not think you can buy an oil between 0w-20 and 20w-50 that would cause damage per say just that oils most frequenty touted as great are not worth the price. May be quality products just in actual practice do not work as well as people believe in this application.

. that part made me laugh, why would you do that, watching commercials is a much better way to determine better oil and filter

but this is exactly the way i feel, i have heard nothing but good things about the german synthetic though. and as far as filters, well its just a filter, and that is one thing that too good can actually be a bad thing. i have always used cheap oil filters, and in this car i use nothing but ac delco, as far as i am concerned it has to be good or gm would not recommend it and to top it off there cheap as hell

Delco filters are pure crap POS. Pretty much anything is.

Wix/Wix Racing is the best
Napa Gold....same as wix.
Purolator.

I posted som e pics in advanced tech a few months back of a crushed delco..after I cut it open.....I will never buy another delco for anything. And I use Napa 10w-30 oil...works fine.
