Metal Line that Runs of the Back of Heads

Metal Line that runs of the back of the heads? I have an LT1 engine out of a parts car and was just wondering what the metal line that runs between the heads on the back side is, and what the purpose of it is?
Thank you for the info, WhiteWS6

That is the steam pipe that helps clear steam pockets in the heads (as I understand it, a side effect of the reverse flow cooling design).

Also give air pockets a way out of the heads, also a result of the “reverse flow” cooling.
