Boltons mean anything on the exterior of the engine. Basically if oil doesn't touch it it is a bolton. Superchargers, nitrous, and turbochargers are not considered boltons. Also rockers and springs are not boltons, but lt1 owners seem to classify them as boltons to boost their ego's as far as "bolton" cars go.

Same here on t.b,i had a BBK52 mm and changed back to stk,and couldnt be more happy.Btw my 1.6 rr did more for me but my damn opti died or the results/times would have been better!

Mods are in the sig. Very similar to what you spec'd out but with a stock throttle body and i'm an M6. Like everyone else says, save your money on the TB and use it for something more beneficial. Here's my dyno:

If you do 1.6 RR you will need better springs, the stock ones barely work with the stock 1.5's.

I've run 1.6 rr on stock springs many times with no problems. Don't see why this time would be any different.

Agreed. Plus it's just good insurance.

[QUOTE=speed_demon24;5136177]Boltons mean anything on the exterior of the engine. Basically if oil doesn't touch it it is a bolton. What are you talking about boosting their egos?? Ive never known anyone to classify rockers and springs as a bolton, except maybe you. Stupid ***. And based on your definition of bolt on NOS would be considered a bolt on since no oil touches it. You will be fine running stock springs on 1:6 rockers Ive done that for about 5 years on my car no problems. And the reason as to why I would do it and not change the springs is because changing springs is a little more of a pain in the *** then an hr spent to swap rocker arms. This is really a stupid point to argue "what is the definition of a bolt on". Who cares. But everyone is right about a 58mm TB being overkill although I noticed a nice gain with a 52mm. Also, like someone else said, dont neglect suspension or else it wont matter how much power you make.

For reference my car is mostly bolt-ons, with the only internal parts being Comp Cam 1.6RRs. I don't know if you consider a bigger cam a bolt-on?

With a good dyno tune, I could get 315rwhp and 335rwtq (corrected). Not insane power, but for a daily driver that doesn't see the track, and 3.73s in the back, it's plenty "fun" enough for me.

Gives you a ballpark of what's capable.

So basically I'm looking at maybe 300 RWHP if im lucky and have a good tune since I'm in an auto. I can deal with that for a DD. I will not get into the motor of this car though I just want a quick street car not a racecar. Maybe when some more money comes my way I'll build another car.

the bolt-on rules were set forth and put into writing by the editors of GMHTP many years ago, and as such I am just trying to abide by the bolt-on rules and it has nothing to do with EGO...

I did, it took a few seconds to find the links though...

It looks like I posted my edit the same time you posted the question...
