Magnaflow catback install gone bad, need help!
Hi all,
Just put my magnaflow catback on today.. Only problem was, whatever crappy exhaust was on here before (the muffler and tips were not stock, but the i-pipe was. thanks to an air cutter and two wheels, that came off - the shop's sawzall was broken). Anyway, back to that problem... I have no fasteners to attach my tips to my hangers. Right now I'm using a mix of two knots of clothesline and some metal wire to hold my tips to my hangers. When you guys did your install, how did you manage to get it all lined up properly? My tips are even and level with the ground, but they're still about 2" or so away from the bottom of my rear bumper. To boot, I can't drive over 30 miles an hour on a bumpy road or the thing shimmies so much the i-pipe bumps into the drive shaft.
What are my options for hanging this thing and getting it lined up right? I've got the OEM hangers, but no fasteners to connect my magnaflow tips to them. Where can I get them, or what's the best method to make sure this exhaust stays put?
Any help would be MOST appreciated, I want to get my car back on the road.
Thanks so much,
Bryan

The magnaflow tips came with a flange welded on to the driver's side tip, and the last portion of the intermediate pipe. They have what appears to be a 3/8" hole drilled in them to bolt on to "something". I've got the rubber-coated hangers that bolt on to the frame, but I don't have the fasteners to connect the flange on my tips up to those hangers. I don't know what to do, and I think something else is messed up. After looking around at some other pictures of the magnaflow install, my tips shoot out the rear much further than everyone else's. Maybe I wasn't ready to install this myself. :\
Sounds like your missing a couple of pieces, the hooks/hangers that connect to the exhaust pipe and I-pipe that slide into the rubber brackets/mounts. You should try contacting someone from magnaflow and have them send you the missing pieces or possibly an exhaust shop might be able to help you out. Oh, your bumper clearance is fine, my tips are about a inch or so [finger width] away and I've not had any problems.
It has been awhile since I have looked at the exhaust hangers, but I will give this a shot. The rubber hangers that bolt to the frame have a hole going through them about 3/8 dia. There should be metal straps with a rod sticking out perpandicular on one end of the strap. These are what hang the pipes off of the rubber mounts.
Well, problem temporarily solved. I went up to carquest and got universal exhaust hangers. Between those, some good bolts and lock washers/locking nuts, I'm set up pretty much even and not moving around at all. I just hope it lasts.
