MAF reading 0 on Scanmaster

MAF reading 0 on Scanmaster
Well, I just got my scanmaster installed yesterday and when I drove the car and started looking through all the displays I noticed the MAF is always reading 00. I checked and it is plugged in and the car seems to be running fine.
Only problem I have noticed lately is when the car is cold, I have a part throttle, low RPM miss sometimes. This just started happening a day or two ago. It goes away once the car is warmed up though. As for the MAF...could my car be running perfectly fine if the MAF really is always seeing 00?? My MAF is stock except I took the screen out.

Some thing is definetly wrong it should be reading numbers and they should increase as your rpms increase. Are you getting any SES light or codes?
Did you try to disconnect it, clean it and plug it back in. Also you may want to find another person with an F-Body and swap out mafs and see if your readings get better.
Good Luck.

Thanks guys. I guess I am going to try and test all the connections with a multimeter this weekend. Can I test the sensor itself with a meter?? I have a helms manual and a haynes manual, but haven't checked either yet for tips.
Why would my car seem to be running so well with the MAF not giving a reading?

If your MAF fails or is not plugged in, your car defaults to speed density mode (selects air/fuel curves and timing based on throttle position and the MAP sensor). Your scansmaster will show you if you're throwing and codes.

If you were having a malfunction like that on the MAF end, then you would be getting an SES light for sure as well as fans that never shut off.
More than likely the last owner reverted to speed density and left it in there as a spacer or to make it look stock. It is possible however that it is defective and that it was programmed out to save money.

Well, the scanmaster will not read trouble codes on my car, becaues it is OBDII. It will do all functions except read trouble codes on the 96-97 cars. It will only read the trouble codes on the OBDI cars.
I do have an SES light, but I was just assuming that it was from all the emissions stuff that I have removed. I have autotap, but I keep getting an error with it every time I try to get the trouble codes. I will be contacting autotap soon I guess.
First thing this morning, I think I am going to check some fuses. I have had a few other wacky things happen on my car recently (reverse lock out solenoid seems stuck...car is a major pain to get into reverse).

Well, was checking connections with the multimeter and noticed I was getting the 5V reference signal to the MAF, but no 12V hot. Found out the fuse under the hood labeled "ENG SENSOR" was blown. This was also the reason my reverse lockout solenoid was stuck. Amazing what a fuse can do. My MAF now works and I can put the car in reverse easily.
