Why is the M6 Faster than the A4

Ok, this maybe a dumb question and maybe it has been asked before. With the modes that I have, I raced a totally stock LT1 M6 and was beat by 3 car lengths. I have been thinking of getting a tuned chip from PCMforless, maybe that will help. Just looking for suggestions. Any input would be greatly apprecieted, thank you for your time.

Stock for stock its because manuals have less drivetrain loss. Also because they came with different gears. As far as your situation I don't know why he beat you. You car running ok?

you should have won, either he's not stock or somethings not running right with your car.

More horse power is lost due tro viscious fluid friction from the tourque converter. The manual also has less moving parts which equals to less friction and less power loss.

So what your saying is that he shouldn't have beat me. We both had traction problems. I'm running on street tires, thought maybe that was an issue. I am just really concerned because I thought that I should have been able to at least give him a good run. I know that I'm running a little rich. He is completely stock. I'm just really confused, (Normal State of Mind). Any suggestions on what I can do to maybe make things a little better. I am looking at getting a chipped tuned, suggestions on which one is better PCMforless or MadZ28? I don't want to start a compatition here, but just want a good tune for my setup. Thanks again to all who reply. You time greatly appreciated.

93's have knock sensors right, but you cant just slip in an LT4 Knock module I dont think, unlike 94+. maybe you're getting false knock due to your headers, have to desensitize your knock sensor or something. correct me if Im wrong on that knock sensor stuff on the 93s.

How do I find out about this? Is it possible that I'm getting a false knock with my headers. My SES Light has never come on, I recently had my car scanned with no error codes. I'm just tryin' to figure this out why he beat me so bad. He did say something about a police interceptor chip and 3.83 gears, is this possible. He has a 93 Formula with the LT1.

A dead spot is in the bottom of a gear where it won't downshift, and feels like the car is dead. What speed did you race from-to?

No, the car never felt like it hit a dead spot, it ran like it always has. We raced twice, once from a stop and once from 30mph. I figured that he might out jump me from a stop, but from 30mph, my car is pretty strong. Both times he beat me by about 3 car lengths. Thanks Again.

Was this a race from a roll? I didn't even think about that. If so, gear selection would have favored the manual as you may have been in a dead spot. Even if that was the case you should have gained on him though. As far as a police interceptor chip, never heard of one; probably one of those BS resistors that tricks the computer.

There is somthing wrong with your car, maybe a good tune up is needed. You should have beat him with no problems. On a side note you should buy a stall, you wont loose to any m6s once you learn how to launch.
