MAF Problem PLEASE HELP

I have a96 Z28 m6 w/ Lt4 hotcam kit,cai,LTs,52mm tb, converted to OBD1. My question is the past few months i have been getting a code 48 on my Scanmaster which is MAF. So i replaced it with a remanufactured Napa MAF, it lasted a week. Then i replaced it again w/ one that lasted 2 days. I thought they were just the crappy napa ones so i bought a brand new one from GM and that one lasted about 3 weeks and that one just fried yesterday, also when i get the #48 code it blows the 20amp Engine fuse. When it does that it wont go in to reverse without forcing it in gear, Whatever that means. I dont know what else to do, or to check any advice would be very helpful. I need to get this fixed before G8 in a couple of weeks. Currently i unpluged the MAF in the meantime till i get it fixed, but it still runs a little rough

I think you may have the sequence of events backwards. Something is causing the fuse to blow. As you have aready figured out, the reverse lockout solenoid seems to be on the same circuit as the MAF sensor. When the fuse blows, the MAF loses its +12V power supply (pink wire), and without the power supply, the PCM senses "0" activity and sets the DTC 48 code. Possibly you didn't need an MAF replacement at all.

You need to find all the devices that are supplied by that fuse, and check the devices and the wiring for shorts. It doesn't seem to be too unusual that the pink wire to the MAF develops a break, and causes the code..... maybe your pink wire is shorting out somewhere.

I reset the computer and replaced the fuse, and the SES light hasn't come on yet. So i guess you are right the MAF isnt bad, and i have a short somewhere.I found the pink wire on the MAF but it is all wrapped up all the way to the PCM, I dont even know where to start. Any suggestions

I'm no real electrical guy but the first thing I would do is start at the MAF with the Engine running, maybe wait until its warmed up.
Tap the maf electrical connector with a screwdriver then jiggle it around a bit. have someone in the dash watching for a SES light. Follow the wire and wiggle whatever bundled up area it's in a bit all the way up to the ECM. Perhaps it will trigger the light while your doing this and you can work from there...
