LTCC any one using it

I am thinking about going with the LTCC over the 24x set up on my 1997 TA. The 24x system will be more of a pain to install and will coast more, so I am considering the LTCC set up with LS2 coils. I have a new rebuilt MSD opti I just got back from msd; so I figure I can mod the cap and rotor and use the MSD opti for the LTCC sensor. Anyone using this system please let me know what you think about it.

I've had it for a little over a year with zero problems. I have an msd opti driving it and I installed the coils on brackets I made. Recently I had a miss that ended up being a burnt up boot at the spark plug leaking spark.

That looks good; I had a member on ls1 tech make me a set of brackets for ls2 coils. What plug wires did you go with? I think missfires will be a lot easier to pinpoint with the LTCC setup.

I use Taylors on mine. Their cut to length wires with the opti boots work fine.

I have taylor wires, but I upgraded to Hi-Temp MSD boots at the plugs.

Re: LTCC any one using it

my original set was #73651 and I bought the opti boots separate #46052, when I redid them cause 2 wires burnt, I bought taylor blue 8mm wire I think 25 feet. Then I bought MSD pro temp boots #8852 and made the wires that burnt thru the taylor boots. I have a lot of left over wire in case another wire gets burnt.

Re: LTCC any one using it

I just put the LTCC in my new build. I bought an MSD opti rebuild kit before I bought the LTCC, not knowing I was going to go that direction. I am having a timing problem that I thought was a tuning glitch. I'm going to try to pull out the opti this weekend and see if it is screwing up. I've verified everything else is good, so it's either a bad opti, or the set screw on the cap got loose (which I now am hearing is a common problem). In hind-sight, I wish I went with a GM replacement opti. I know the cost is more, but the amount of time/effort required to pull one would offset the cost (to me).

On another note, Bob Bailey suggested the Magnacore spark plug wires, so i went with them. I had used the Taylor's for years and loved them, but he said he had seen problems with them on some cars. I was so impressed with the Magnacores that I immediately ordered a set for my Silverado, and my wife's Vette. They have a great write-up on there web site explaining their difference from other plug wires that make s a lot of sense!

Good luck!

Ben

I still haven't fabricated the coil cover, but here it is as it sits:

I didn't put the rotor in when I put mine together. 1 less thing to worry about.

Yep I removed my rotor over the week end; I installed a washer and a lock washer under each rotor screw along with a little red loctite. The opti should hod together fine I just hope the MSD sensor hold up.

Re: LTCC any one using it

That would be correct. Delteq stopped answering e-mail and disappeared about 4 years ago.
